Inner Conversations

Today is a new day, filled with opportunities, choices, memories and fears.  I wanted to ask you and myself one question, do you realize how much your Inner Conversations (self talk) impacts what you believe and what paths you will travel? 

Many times we find ourselves simply drifting along, no goals, no desires and often not even a tiny dream to fuel our way.  Don't you worry, it's not too late to re-write your inner dialogue, you may not win an Academy Award for best screenplay but YOU will thank YOU for it....trust me! 
Let's try a simple excercise, just repeat after me:

I will honor myself enough to be prepared for the best life has to offer

I will not hold a grudge against myself for what I have not done, but instead I will gently yet firmly encourage myself to do what is in my very best interest (starting from this moment)

I will not be afraid to try, to FAIL

because ONLY then can I succeed!

I will enjoy life's precious moments by being present in each of them

I will strive to LOVE

It is never ever too late for Happily Ever After, but first we must re-write the script and practice more loving and encouraging Inner Conversations.

He Keeps on Doing Great Things for Me!

When God opens a door, no man can close it.  God is a gentleman, he creates opportunities but he does not just thrust you into them, He prepares you.  His preparation does not always feel good, but it does good.  I am grateful because if someone had told me 15 years ago that I would be the woman I am today..I would have laughed so hard that I might have broke a rib or something!  But indeed He keeps doing great things for me and I want to say God thank you for being a faithful and loving father and blowing my mind on a regular basis.

Try not to run from it
...ignore it
...fear it
...miss the valuable lessons tucked away in it
...get angry with it
...get stressed out about it
Keep in mind that it comes to grow your character
and prepare you for GREATER!
Try to embrace it
...learn the lessons buried deep within it
...prepare your children for it
...find the humor in it
...be at peace with it
...love and be kind to yourself in the midst of it
...be courageous and walk in it
...realize it was designed with you in mind
...Trust God to see you thru it

"Giggles In the Valley"

Today was a typical Monday with one exception, I received a text regarding a loved one being transported to Hospice and the confirmation that if we (the family) could make it to the hospital, to please do so.

As I drove to my destination, I went over memories of him throughout my life.  He was always getting smart and talking mad trash (as my mother would always say) to my mother and about my name.   They were fun thoughts and memories that were preparing me to be supportive of his wife and children (so I thought).  I asked for directions at the front desk and proceeded to follow the instructions given and I arrived on his floor (without getting lost).  What I expected to find, the mood, the atmosphere, the spirit in the room was not there!!! 

What greeted me was a family, his wife, my aunts and other family
members trying the best they could to make him as comfortable as possible and cracking jokes (WHAT JOKES in HOSPICE???).  I know that is what you're thinking, yes jokes in hospice.  His wife and daughter were having a very funny back and forth banter with this man who lived his life THAT WAY!  It was a loving conversation between the man and his family, that I am sure his spirit (without the pain) found joy in.  As I silently prayed and laughed out loud (more than a few times), it occurred to me what must be the best things I can think of for anyone walking in the valley of the shadow.  

To be comforted, be at peace, surrounded by those who have been by your side thru the good and the bad and to have giggles and more Giggles in the Valley is to me the essence of a life fully lived. 

Movin' On

Movin’ on at times is not my desire but a necessity

My mind wants to cling to the memories, not realizing they are hindering me

As I experience joy it is surely sprinkled with a little pain

But how much is clearly up to me

As sand rushes gently thru my hands

I experience it in the here and now

Why wonder why it tickles my senses or try to hold what has no desire to be held?

Open your hand allowing freedom..ahhh this is true love

Clutching is possessiveness and no good comes from it

Movin’ on as I love myself and the life I’m choosing

I’m letting go of the if’s and why’s and holding to the right here and now of what is

Remembering the soul has no rainbows if the eyes shed no tears
