Get and Do more of what you Really Really Want!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, loved ones are near, homes all aglow with festive lights, holiday decor and music are everywhere and the hearts of others are filled with giving and good cheer. You would think with all this warm and fuzzy stuff abounding, crime and sadness would be at an all time low, right?  But even with all that we see, hear and do this time of year, many of us are still not at peace and where there is no peace you will (too often) find people more prone to chaos and carrying pieces (if you get my meaning).

Perhaps, just maybe if in the midst of this magical season, we could get a glimpse of what we are (at our core) really yearning for we could then truly work for and grasp peace.  Most (perhaps not all) of us really really want a few basic things: Joy, to be heard, to be understood, to be really loved for who WE ARE, recognition for our talents, to matter, to be relevant, to be proud of the people that we are on a daily basis and have those who matter to us be proud of us and our accomplishments and to have GOOD CREDIT (lol lol had to throw that in).  We also want to be at peace with our thoughts and our choices, therein lies true bliss like joy.  That being said, we often strive to have and do stuff that fills in the gaps of these things, we spend money without much thought on a variety of people and things, we put on airs, we do all sorts of things that we THINK will make us feel and be Successful.  There is nothing wrong with trying daily to improve on you and be a better you than you were yesterday but life was meant to be more and when we slow down and ask ourselves (and listen to the answer) what am I really really yearning for and in response to your soul's answer begin to Get and Do more of what we really really yearn for we will find ourselves right in the middle of a much more enriched, truly successful and God pleasing life.

Happy and Joyous Holidays to You all....therefore go forth, each and every one of you, Get and Do more of what you Really Really Want!

Nurture the Flowers in Your Garden!

As the sleet was gently transformed into snow on Monday, the eye opening chill turned my cheeks into cold evidence that Fall (at least in my mind) was indeed becoming all but a memory.  I quickly ran errands, striding briskly in and out of stores in order to return home and thoroughly thaw out.  Once the initial shock of the harsh reality that we had officially experienced our first snow of the season wore off, it crossed my mind how similar the changing of nature's seasons and the seasons of our lives can be.  One moment we are swinging on the swings, chasing the icecream truck, getting all dressed up for our 8th grade farewell,

terrified at the mere thought of attending high school on the our first day as a freshman, hanging out with friends at football/basketball games, getting our first job at Forever 21 or maybe Arby's, graduating from college and decorating our very first apartment.  Before we can blink an eye, we are in the full throws of adulthood.  Married, a mortgage, a car or perhaps 2, kids AND a dog.  Our parents, uncles and those who have loved and cared for us, are now in their "Golden Years".  Far too often, these years are riddled with financial and/or health challenges and not the relaxing paradise they should be.  In the last few years, I have witnessed loved ones transitioning from this life into a much more peaceful place.  I've prayed and watched as those I admire and love (once active and some avid athletes) have endured scary heart operations, battles with mind altering illnesses, daily struggles with arthritis, diabetes and Victory over breast cancer!

Just today, I experienced a sweet co-worker's heart breaking as she received news that her daughter's childhood friend was sadly killed in a car accident just the night before at the young age of 18.  As all these thoughts weaved in and out of my mind, I was again reminded of just how fleeting life can be.  All of this is the Universe's, not so subtle, way of whispering and sometimes shouting to us...Live Your Life on and with Purpose!  Pray, eat, laugh, forgive, try again, love, hold hands, kiss passionately, be honest, be real, work, travel, pursue your Divinely Inspired Dreams,

enjoy music, be present with your children, teach, learn, speak, listen, show up, believe it is possible, Dance and Stop Watering the Weeds in Your Yard..instead Be keenly attentive to and Nurture the Flowers in Your Garden!

Create Beauty, Plant Hope

This past weekend, I spent time in meditation (much overdue and needed), recovering from watching "Cloud Atlas (yeah...3 words...Don't Watch It) and was reminded of all kinds of interesting and perhaps random thoughts and they are as follows:

My book, read it

My surroundings, be more attentive of it
My Mind, Get to know it
My time, learn to manage it
My Money, Be more savvy with it
My Faith, Feed it
My Dream, Dare to believe in and Make plans to fulfill it

My Divine Purpose, Boldly walk in it
My Passion, Live it
My Smile, Share it

My Beauty, Embrace it
My Life, Be Thankful for it

Life is what you create and consistently believe it to be.  Create beauty, plant hope, strive to increase joy and live with passion and balance.

Tune In

There are moments and then there are MOMENTS, yesterday was definately a MOMENT for me.  As I went about my evening, chatting, laughing, shopping (with coupons of course), I was blessed enough to see someone from my past and my mother's past.  I was in a store and this young man very cautiously approached me and inquired if I was indeed my mother.  I turned to really tune in to his voice and look into his eyes and what I saw caused me to reflect on many many things.  I spoke to him, like I have so many times over the years with others who recognized me as "My Mother's Daughter" (yes we look quite a bit alike).  This time however, it was something very different about our verbal exchange.  I looked at him as he spoke and what I saw in his face saddened me deeply.  In his eyes I saw, unchartered adventures, sunken hope, discouraged dreams and a deep love lost.  As he spoke to me about my mother, I could see and feel the love he still felt for her and the deep regret he felt over what could have been as he looked at this grown woman standing before him who was once a little girl he held and played with so gently.  I shared my encounter with my family when I returned home and was surprised at the understanding that came to me as we spoke of him.  Life comes at you fast, tune-in to your moments before you miss it!

Everyday there are little miracles all around us.
Sadly hurt, fear, disappointments and unforgiveness can cause us to close doors by our words or actions that years from now we may realize were doorways to growth, joy or even to our Divinely Inspired Dreams coming to pass. Tune-in to your life, this is not a dress rehearsal it is the Actual Performance and you are the lead actor, director, choreographer and editor.  Be active and involved in your life, prayerful about your decisions, open to change and a few challenges.  Don't be shy about editing your life or the people in it (we do it to our friends list on Facebook...I mean really).  Be gentle with yourself and forgiving of your past choices.  Allow yourself to surrender to the healing, life transforming, vision revealing love of God and remember you were never given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.
Get off the sidelines of YOUR life, take time to smell the flowers, play with your kids, hug/kiss/laugh with your spouse, drink coffee/tea, color, paint, plant a garden, help someone, see a play, go somewhere you've always wanted to go, listen to India.Arie (lol..just a suggestion) and get involved in your LIFE!

The Sun's Purpose

The sun shines, no matter what
It daily lives out it's purpose
It warms hearts and inspires humanity
It nourishes and encourages growth
And although, inevitably
the clouds will come and
The thunder may roar
Temporarily dimming it's ever glowing light
The Sun's Purpose can never and will never Cease!

From My Lovely Morning View

Today on this "Thankful Tuesday", I am reflecting on being a mother, woman, business owner, daughter, friend, worshipper and a few other things that are not coming to mind at the moment.

Life is full of unknown moments, scary and exciting moments and the daily challenge is to be open enough to walk the journey and learn what you can from each experience.  The experiences mold your character and create your life interactions with those around you.  These interactions contribute to our views.  Our views of what is or is not acceptable and what Success looks like.  As I walked this morning, I carefully pondered this very thought and from my Lovely Morning View

I realized that Success Is: Setting achievable and  seemingly impossible goals, staying in God's Presence, Walking in Forgiveness, Being a humble Student of Life, Being a Cheerful Giver, Focusing on the Good, Directing your Energy towards a more loving and brighter future not only for yourself but for others, Determination, Perseverance, Looking for solutions instead of dwelling on the problems and Keeping it Moving instead of making excuses!

You Are A Success, from my Lovely Morning View.

Inner Conversations

Today is a new day, filled with opportunities, choices, memories and fears.  I wanted to ask you and myself one question, do you realize how much your Inner Conversations (self talk) impacts what you believe and what paths you will travel?

Many times we find ourselves simply drifting along, no goals, no desires and often not even a tiny dream to fuel our way.  Don't you worry, it's not too late to re-write your inner dialogue, you may not win an Academy Award for best screenplay but YOU will thank YOU for me!
Let's try a simple excercise, just repeat after me:

I will honor myself enough to be prepared for the best life has to offer

I will not hold a grudge against myself for what I have not done, but instead I will gently yet firmly encourage myself to do what is in my very best interest (starting from this moment)

I will not be afraid to try, to FAIL
because ONLY then can I succeed!

I will enjoy life's precious moments by being present in each of them

I will strive to LOVE

It is never ever too late for Happily Ever After, but first we must re-write the script and practice more loving and encouraging Inner Conversations.

He Keeps on Doing Great Things for Me!

When God opens a door, no man can close it.  God is a gentleman, he creates opportunities but he does not just thrust you into them, He prepares you.  His preparation does not always feel good, but it does good.  I am grateful because if someone had told me 15 years ago that I would be the woman I am today..I would have laughed so hard that I might have broke a rib or something!  But indeed He keeps doing great things for me and I want to say God thank you for being a faithful and loving father and blowing my mind on a regular basis

I joyfully want to invite each one of you to visit my website at
As you visit, know that nothing is impossible with God!!

"Giggles In the Valley"

Today was a typical Monday with one exception, I received a text regarding a loved one being transported to Hospice and the confirmation that if we (the family) could make it to the hospital, to please do so.

As I drove to my destination, I went over memories of him throughout my life.  He was always getting smart and talking mad trash (as my mother would always say) to my mother and about my name.   They were fun thoughts and memories that were preparing me to be supportive of his wife and children (so I thought).  I asked for directions at the front desk and proceeded to follow the instructions given and I arrived on his floor (without getting lost).  What I expected to find, the mood, the atmosphere, the spirit in the room was not there!!!

What greeted me was a family, his wife, my aunts and other family
members trying the best they could to make him as comfortable as possible and cracking jokes (WHAT JOKES in HOSPICE???).  I know that is what you're thinking, yes jokes in hospice.  His wife and daughter were having a very funny back and forth banter with this man who lived his life THAT WAY!  It was a loving conversation between the man and his family, that I am sure his spirit (without the pain) found joy in.  As I silently prayed and laughed out loud (more than a few times), it occurred to me what must be the best things I can think of for anyone walking in the valley of the shadow.

To be comforted, be at peace, surrounded by those who have been by your side thru the good and the bad and to have giggles and more Giggles in the Valley is to me the essence of a life fully lived.

Movin' On

Movin’ on at times is not my desire but a necessity
My mind wants to cling to the memories, not realizing they are hindering me
As I experience joy it is surely sprinkled with a little pain
But how much is clearly up to me

As sand rushes gently thru my hands

I experience it in the here and now
Why wonder why it tickles my senses or try to hold what has no desire to be held?

Open your hand allowing freedom..ahhh this is true love

Clutching is possessiveness and no good comes from it
Movin’ on as I love myself and the life I’m choosing
I’m letting go of the if’s and why’s and holding to the right here and now of what is

Remembering the soul has no rainbows if the eyes shed no tears

Are You Ready To Ride?

The other day I sat with my oldest son and watched "The Hobbit",

due to a homework assisgnment that of course was being completed at the LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE (teenagers..ugh)!

Although I had really wanted to see this movie while it was at the movies, I was sort of in the mood for my old trusted favorite type of movie, yep you guessed it, a romantic comedy.  As luck would have it, I watched "The Hobbit" and pulled out my journal and wrote like a mad woman on "Rock Candy from Greenfield Village".

The movie was not only entertaining but it was a self discovery journey and I completely indulged.  As I enjoyed some bonding time with my son, other things started to become crystal clear to me and I think I will share them with you, ok?

Enlightenment comes to us at the most unexpected moments if our eyes and ears are open.  When we find ourselves at the corner of what used to be and what is to come, then and only then will we truly be open and ready to receive what God has in store for each of us.  God is very wise and crafty.  He reveals Himself to those who hunger for Him and hunger for righteousness.  The funny thing is, since our spiritual appetite is just that spiritual.  We often don't realize we are hungry, but I am so glad that He does!

There is a saying among "Church Folk" that simply says, "More of You Lord and less of me".  When our heart's desire is so, God in His love, mercy and faithfulness will show us His character and the His divine purpose/plan for our lives in snippets ( sorry not all at once).  It will be shared in a multitude of different ways.  It will be shown thru pure worship, prayer (intimate conversations between God and us), songs (christian music, gospel, jazz and believe it or not...shhhhh sometimes even secular/R&B/Hip Hop).  It can be shown thru journaling, playing a video game and even movies (If He wants you to know something, He is creative in getting the message to you).  I have personally received some of my most memorable revelations from God, from some of the most unexpected places ie: "Wreck It Ralph", The Rise of the Guardians and the Croods".

God is unorthodox, always the same...yet unpredictable, kind, jealous, just and breathtakingly Awesome!  Daily He is inviting each of us to be in a loving, intimate relationship with Him.  He wants to show us things about Himself, ourselves and the world around us, WOW what love and what an adventure.  Never again will you thirst or be hungry because He is the Living Water and the Living Bread from Heaven.  Take a deep breath, eyes straight ahead and hold on tight (don't let go of His unchanging hand).  Are you ready for the ride????

"Energy Re-Directed, back on the Right Track"

My my my, it has been a mighty long time since we sat down for a little conversation (me sharing with you and you reading what I am sharing with you).  Ok now that I think about it that is a one sided conversation, yet I digress.

Sooo today I stumbled upon (this is also a pretty awesome website an article that really touched on a somewhat sensitive topic for me.  Well Blissful, what topic is that?  I know I know, perked your curiousity just a bit right?  I read about the emotional struggle so many women face in regards to their body image!!  In the United States, we are such a media driven society and that media (television, movies, music videos, magazines etc.) have created a very very dysfunctional view of what it means to be "Fly", Fine, Super Bad, Beautiful, Gorgeous, Sexy, Irresistable" and so on.  Most women that, by media's standards, fit into these categories are depicted as a size 0-6

and in "Real Life" most women fluctuate between a 10-14.  Amazing that the pictures of the perfect (doesn't really exist) woman are stuck so stubbornly in our minds. We view these pictures mentally more times in a day than many of us would ever let on. They are usually non-realistic and PHOTO-SHOPPED to boot (ain't nobody got time for that stinkin' thinkin')!

I read this mind altering article (for really real, it altered my stinkin' thinkin'), it reminded me of one simple truth that somehow I had forgotten and that is: "When talking about weight and self image, remember that you can only compare yourself today with yourself yesterday, and work to improve yourself. "  The article titled, "A Plus Size Model’s Message to Women: Believe in Your Own Beauty" (can be found at  After reading this one statement and looking at pictures of some healthy and visually stunning women,

my energy was re-directed and I can say I am officially back on the right track.

I'm taking a deep breath and jumping back into a healthier way of living. I am again getting laser focused and determined to be a better me today than I was yesterday.

More Adventurous Than a Hollywood Story!

"Romantic Love is simply an extension of
Your Love Affair with Yourself"
    Blissful Harmony

Love is a continuous journey of extensive self discovery.  We are always living, loving and learning who we are, where we are and evolving into who we are becoming in the present moment (this evolution never ceases).  Love shows us that we can give far more of ourselves than we ever thought, expose much more of our true selves than is comfortable and can receive priceless lessons and experiences than you ever expected.

“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
                                           T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

“Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are.”

Love is not the music pounding picture painted for us in Hollywood Movies, nor is it a Fairytale.  Love is however, very rich in Vitamins A, C and D (Adventure, Compromise and Discovery).  Love is not all flowers, cuddle time, candlelite and massages.  Love is actually more like a personal trainer, designed specifically with you in mind, sent to bend you and stretch you far beyond the limitations that you were NOT EVEN AWARE EXISTED!

Love Is by far so much deeper, more valuable and More Adventurous Than any Hollywood Story!!!

It's Time To Come Clean (My New Addiction)

This past week I spent a wonderful four days in Michigan hanging with some family and dear friends. I had an unexpected visit from a former co-worker and childhood friend, I went to the theatre , went out to dinner, was treated out to breakfast, and stayed in and watched one of my all-time favorite Jerry Lewis’ films
with my Sisters and Nieces. As wonderful as all these things were, there were events taking place that some of you may view as dark and corrupting. Some may even think down right evil, activities that I participated in willingly. I was seduced, by all the talk from friends and family members. I was told to try it, just once. I couldn’t say no even though I wasn’t interested. I gave in to the pressure and before I knew it I was being given nightly doses of this substance. Each night I would be asked, “Do you want more”? and each night I would reluctantly reply “sure, why not?” until one night I started asking for it myself. I couldn’t wait to have it. I would stay up until the early hours getting my fill, because I knew that when I returned home it might be difficult to get. It happened, I was totally and completely addicted and I liked it. I now know it’s all over for me. I should have just said no, should have run screaming in the other direction, but now it’s too late. I’m hooked on that mind blowing drug and I like it.
You may be asking yourself, what is she talking about? What is this powerful thing that has gotten a hold of her? What is this thing that has her up at all hours of the night and the early morn wanting more?
Ahh my Facebook friends, trust me when I tell you that many of you too have been drawn in, chained up and taken hostage by this powerful drug. You too have been observed talking about when and where you will get your next fix, and you too have experienced the rush, and excitement from a powerful dose of it all the while anticipating that next hit.
Yes, I am talking about that one thing that has many of you folks glued to your flat screens, lap tops, I Pads and smart phones every Thursday at 10pm (est). I am talking about that TV show “Scandal” YES!!
I said it!! I’m hooked. There I’ve said it again. I hate to admit it, but it has to be known. And the one who got me addicted?, the one who was my pusher?, my dealer?, was the one I trusted most?, was my own TWIN SISTER!!!
I know, I know, shocking isn’t it? Each night she treated me to “a Scandal thon” where we would watch episode after episode until I was fully “caught up”. She knew what she was doing all along. Oh she was a sly one that “Chilly Quilly”, but I can’t hate her can I. Now we have something new that we share in common. Something to chat on the phone about for hours and hours (like we need a reason) And now I must anticipate, or should I say dread, the day when the season will end with yet another cliff hanger leaving us all feigning for more. Thanks a lot Quill!!!
Some of you know what I’m talking about, go on admit it. It’s time to come clean.

Self Love, Your First Love

Happy Valentine's Day to you, you and ME!!!!  Valentine's Day normally evokes many visions, commercials, feelings (some good and some not so much) and desires.  Rose petals, candlelight, dinner, music, candy, teddy bears, lingerie, mystery dates and a good sweaty work out!!! WHAT???? Sweaty and work out...are you saying to yourself...what is this lady drinking over there??? Ok, ok let me clarify.  This morning I was attempting to hype myself up to go work out and I had a light bulb moment, walk with me people.  If I indeed believe (which I whole heartedly do) that God loves me and I in turn am a reflection of His love, then I owe it to God and myself to love myself...right?  RIGHT!  Love being an action word means that I not only say I have love for myself but I show it in the way I treat ME (mind, body and spirit).  I strive to live in the present moment, I eat well but as healthy as possible, I release stress

to someone who is more equipped to handle it (than I am)..GOD and I work my temple out regularly.  Take time to care for your body (it actually has a built in set of instructions if we but listen a little closer).  Other than getting back to walking regularly to love on me, I have also stumbled upon a natural moisturizing body butter that my elbows and feet absolutely LOVE called "Butterfly Butter", created by Ms. Adrienne Roach.  This is a perfect little treat for you, especially to maintain in between pedicures to keep the feet sweet

Self love is truly Your First Love!  It is the love that allows us to flourish and fulfill our divine purpose (yes no matter who you are, where you are in your have a DIVINE PURPOSE).  Be still, listen, drink water, work out, pamper yourself (Men, Women and Children).

For I Know The Plans I Have For You

Experiences are like stackable stones moving you from one phase to another
Lessons come in all shapes, sizes and colors

We close our eyes, trying to run from the painful ones..knowing all the while they will indeed come again...
Lessons can not be skipped, cuz God don't play that!
His plan is set and it will be what it will be, so we are using good energy unnecessarily....

Time to re-adjust some thangs and get with His program you see
Cut some ties, loose some weights and allow your spirit to Fly Free!!!
A narrower road than you've traveled, He is clearing your path of things that were a distraction and leading you in a NEW DIRECTION...

Your Dream is upon you, he birthed it in your heart before the beginning of time
Thru it all, nothing in your life has been in vein, life's challenges have served a much higher show you things you could see no other way
And for a time such as this, He has kept and molded you
Holding onto Him, you Will fulfill Your Destiny
For He well knows the plans that He has for You....
